PSC identity verification: the 14 days for each birth month
A PSC who is not a director gives their Companies House personal code in the first 14 days of their birth month. All 12 months are in the table below.
The transition is the 12 months beginning with 18 November 2025, so its last day is 17 November 2026 (SI 2025/1118, regulation 4(9)). PSCs born in October who are not directors: 1 October 2026 to 14 October 2026, open now.
Who must verify
You must, if you are listed as a person with significant control (PSC) on the company's register. Companies House says each PSC must verify their identity and give their personal code within a 14 day period (GOV.UK, read 8 October 2026). The officers of corporate PSCs come later, Companies House says.
When: it depends on 2 things
- A PSC on the register on 18 November 2025 who is not a director of that company: GOV.UK puts it as "within the first 14 days of your birth month" (GOV.UK, page updated 30 July 2026, read 8 October 2026). The year comes from SI 2025/1118, regulation 5(2): December 2025 for December birthdays, January to November 2026 for the rest. Born on 22 January: 1 to 14 January 2026.
- A PSC who is also a director: 14 days, starting the day after the company's confirmation statement date. Filing the statement early does not move it. The form below works it out.
- Added as a PSC after 18 November 2025: when first added to the register, or within 14 days of being added.

Worked out from SI 2025/1118, regulation 5(2), on 8 October 2026. Companies House says you can check your own 14 days on the register; where it gives a date, that date wins.
If your 14 days have passed: Companies House says a PSC who carries on after the deadline without meeting the rules may be committing an offence. Before a deadline passes, the PSC service also takes a request for a 14 day extension (GOV.UK, read 8 October 2026).
The dates and the GOV.UK route are free. If your board has a date still open, the £9 pack puts every open date in one calendar file, with a note per open date to forward.
The first prosecutions: on 16 September 2026, 3 directors were fined at City of London Magistrates' Court for identity verification offences (Insolvency Service and Companies House, 17 September 2026).
The £9 pack
One calendar file with every open date on your board and a reminder 7 days and 1 day before, and one note per open date, ready to forward, with the 3 free GOV.UK steps for that role. It is offered under your table of dates, and only when at least one date is still open.
